Sandalwood Management, owner and manager of 4 shopping centers in Saguenay Lac St-Jean, is proud to confirm the upcoming arrival of Decathlon at Place du Saguenay. Indeed, the rumor that has been circulating for a few weeks is officially confirmed; the new banner will be established in the region and plans to open in the spring of 2024.

"We are very happy with this announcement and delighted to welcome the first Decathlon store in the region. Our team has worked very hard on this project, so it is with great pleasure that we are making the official announcement today," said Patrick Lamarre, Property Manager for Sandalwood Management.

Decathlon will be moving into a 43,300 square foot space at the front of the mall, which will require major renovations as well as the relocation and redevelopment of some existing tenants. Among other things, the Coco Frutti breakfast restaurant will be relocated to the building at 1212 Talbot Boulevard, the Brunet pharmacy will move to a larger location and the San Francisco boutique will be temporarily relocated before moving to a larger space in 2023. Club C will close its doors in the next few weeks, while Maison Usinex and the Marie-Claire Week-end store have already closed. The Clément store will have to reorganize its space to allow for the construction of a new loading dock, located at the back of the shopping center, which will benefit all merchants. The work, which began recently, will continue for several more months.

Decathlon is one of the world's largest retailers of sports and outdoor goods. Founded in France in 1976, the family-owned company designs, manufactures and distributes thousands of products for more than 65 sports. "The arrival of this banner is excellent news for the people of the region who will now have access to high quality sports equipment for the whole family at very affordable prices," added Mr. Lamarre. Decathlon offers more than 7,000 products in its stores located in 60 countries. In Quebec, the banner currently has 6 stores located in Quebec City, Montreal, Laval, Boisbriand and Brossard.
